Volunteer

A volunteer with two Grace & St. Peter’s students Who: Our valued volunteers are people who contribute to the family-friendly atmosphere of our school community by offering help and support.

Grace and St. Peter's parents/guardians volunteer in a variety of ways. Some parents/guardians volunteer for special activities and share their interests and expertise making special presentations in classrooms. Other parents/guardians volunteer from home, giving time and/or materials (making learning center games, providing craft supplies, making treats for events, making phone calls, etc.). Parent volunteers serve as class representatives who contact other parents regarding class activities, fundraisers, and the annual fund.

How: Flyers will be sent home periodically, detailing each upcoming event for which volunteer help is needed. The flyers will direct you to either call the school or return a tear-off slip if you want to participate.

What: Below is a list of popular school events at which parents/guardians and extended family members may enjoy helping. Dates for the events are posted on the school calendar.

Volunteer Opportunities

Field Trips
Check the school calendar, monthly newsletters, and individual classroom news about scheduled trips. Your child's teacher will send information home if additional chaperones are needed. Space on bus trips is often limited, and you may need to accompany the group in your own vehicle. Read Item 14 in the School Handbook.

The Parents' Association
All current parents/guardians are members of the Parents' Association. The Association hosts and sponsors activities and fundraisers throughout the year. The officers coordinate volunteers to serve as class representatives and to help with events and fundraisers.

Classroom Volunteers
Classroom teachers at times appreciate an extra set of hands during special events in the classroom. They also welcome parents/guardians who are willing to share their interests and expertise with students through presentations or materials. There may also be times that you can provide help from home (making treats, costumes, or other items for use in the classroom), especially when your schedule doesn't permit time during the school day. Usually each teacher sends his or her own notes to parents/guardians to solicit assistance.

Spring Fair
In early spring, Parents' Association Officers will provide information about the committees, booth staffing needs, and donations of food and time need to make this a total school community event.

Arts Festivals
